In Memoriam: Joop de Groot

With some customers you build a relationship for life. But even that is sometimes too short. Joop de Groot, founder of De Groot Woodworking Machinery unexpectedly deceased on the 3rd of November.

It was 17 years ago that I first set foot in the machine hall in Rosmalen. Joop de Groot was proud to show me everything and talked with a lot of passion about how he built the company from his garage to a huge company. Joop gave me his trust and set Saatchi & Saatchi aside to become my first client. We developed together the best and most original ideas and events such The National Plate Planing Days. This also resulted in the memorable radio commercials with his fictional brother, Ferry de Groot. Mr. de Groot, thanks for everything. We miss you already. (Ab Kuijer)
